Wells Food Festival
Fields and woods are abundant with autumnal produce. Tom’s pop-up guerrilla kitchen will set up base outside the Bishop’s Barn and prepare a stunning banquet for180 people from veg, fruit, game and surplus produce that has been provided by allotments, farmers and markets, as well as a pig grown on food waste and cooked nose to tail. Includes an aperitif of The Ethicurean’s brand new wild foraged herb vermouth. For tickets (£30 per person) and further information please visit
For those who would prefer a shorter lunch with a bit of fun thrown in, come to the Fountain Inn and enjoy a two-course Sunday lunch accompanied by five rounds of foodie brainteasers. For tickets (£15 per person) please contact eat@fountaininn.co.uk
The second Wells Food Festival will be bigger and better than ever. The Town Hall, the
Bishop’s Palace, the Bishop’s Barn and everywhere in between will come alive with foodie events. Marquees will spring up all over the Market Place and the Recreation Ground around the
Bishop’s Barn, with stalls extending all the way up the moat around the palace to connect the two.
This event is called the Great Somerset Sunday Lunch and so it is. This year we’re putting on two superb ticketed lunches – the Great Italian Sunday Lunch in the Bishop’s Palace Undercroft and the pop-up Forgotten Feast’s Autumn Banquet in the Bishop’s Barn, as well as a Foodie Pub Quiz in the Fountain Inn and special menus in many of the pubs and restaurants in town – not to mention the street food stalls in the market and around the barn.
Do come and join us in making Wells the Sunday lunch capital of Somerset on
Sunday 12th October.
