About Us

What is a Transition Town?

Transition Towns is a pioneering initiative which enables communities to address today's major issues of climate change, peak oil and the depletion of the earth's natural resources.

As an individual, attempting to counteract the prospect of global warming can seem like a daunting task. Trying to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels, while the price of fuel continues to escalate as a result of peak oil, might appear futile.

However the more we work together as a community, the more powerful we can be in finding positive solutions to many of these pressing issues. By thinking on a global scale, yet acting locally, we can plan and prepare ourselves for the challenges faced by humankind today and in the future.

Transition Langport is committed to taking action to create a low energy/carbon future. This will bring about a more connected, supportive and self-reliant community consisting of healthier and happier people.
